The Playstation 4 will be receiving a plethora of bundles for the festive shopping season with titles such as Grand Theft Auto V, Far Cry 4 and LittleBigPlanet 3 all having a special bundle. Sony have also decided to release an unorthodox bundle for service men and women.
Neogaf user TomShoe has revealed that Sony have released ‘Military Appreciation bundles’ out into the wild. These bundles are designed to appeal to service men and women. The bundle will cost a total of $459.99 (plus no additional tax). the bundle includes two controllers, a three month subscription to Playstation Plus and several indie titles including; Octodad: The Dadliest Catch, TowerFall Ascension and Divekick: Addition Edition. It is worth noting that the indie titles are not already installed on the 500 GB hard drive and instead come in the form of downloadable codes. The Military bundle will also provide additional content for three F2P titles including; Warframe, Blacklight: Retribution and Pinball Arcade.
Although some of the content included in the bundle, such as the Warframe and Blacklight content, are tailored for online multiplayer, titles such as Octodad, TowerFall and Divekick are more suited for local multiplayer; this gives the impression that the bundle is targeting service men and women that are heading out overseas so they can play on the Playstation 4 without an internet connection. The addition of the second controller adds support to this theory.
This deal was spotted in a Navy Exchange, therefore these bundles may only appear in military outlets. Even though Europe has been saturated by the amount of bundles Sony has produced since November 2013, it is very unlikely that Sony will bring such a patriot box into European markets. It is also unlikely for Sony to make some sort of ‘European Union bundle’ as a replacement for the Military bundle.
