Publisher Konami has announced that Hideo Kojima’s Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is available to download from the PlayStation Store on December 17th.
Guns of the Patriots has been confirmed as a 30GB download and it’s retailing at £19.99 in the UK and €19.99 in Europe, while the title is also available in Japan for ¥ 2,980.
The critically acclaimed Guns of the Patriots was released in 2008 as a PlayStation 3 exclusive — later rereleased as part of the Metal Gear Solid: The Legacy Collection for PS3 in 2013 — and it served as the final conclusion to the story of protagonist Solid Snake.
MGS4 had a multiplayer component in the title called Metal Gear Online, which Konami eventually shutdown in North America in 2012. Metal Gear Online, however, will be making its return in Kojima’s next installment in the series, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, and it’s already been confirmed that the Japanese developer will be showcasing the world premiere of MGO at The Game Awards 2014.
Meanwhile, Nintendo Everything has reported that Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D, the Nintendo 3DS version of Hideo Kojima’s distinguished Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, will be available on the Japanese eShop from December 16th (¥4,500), with users receiving a free MGS3 theme when they purchase the title (or it can be bought separately for ¥200).
Running on Kojima Productions’ Fox Engine, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain will launch in 2015 for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
