Nintendo has dismissed rumors that the Wii U GameCube Controller Adaptor has been discontinued by the company.
Some rumors emerged last week that Nintendo would be halting production on the GameCube Controller Adaptor, and that retailers would no longer receive anymore stock of the accessory.
Nintendo UK, however, has came out with a statement dismissing this rumor and clarifying the current state that the GameCube Controller Adaptor is in:
We would like to reassure you that GameCube Controller Adapter for Wii U has not been discontinued by Nintendo of Europe and we are doing everything we possibly can to meet the demand which is currently outstripping supply.
We are unable to comment specifically on individual retailer stock levels and as such we ask customers to contact their local retailers directly regarding their availability of this product. We would however like to reassure you that we are working hard to ensure that additional stock can be made available and delivered to retailers.
So while no clarification as to when new shipments of the accessory were given, what was confirmed is that Nintendo is still producing the adaptor and that hopefully new shipments will be released sooner than later.
The adaptor was created specifically for use with Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, which is currently available world wide, and allows users to play the fighting title with old GameCube controllers from Nintendos old console.
