It’s only July, but many Pokemon fans are excited for the major release of the Generation 3 Remakes. I, for one, am one of those fans. Everything that was in Pokemon X and Y will be implemented into the remakes and that sounds extremely exciting. Although some information has been released, here are a few things that I still hope to see coming into the games.
Continuing the Character Customization
The fact that the players could customize their player is something long overdue for the Pokemon series. Players were thrilled to be able to add some style to their trainers, but also make them more personable like themselves instead of playing in the shoes of one sole character. However, there were limits to the customization and there wasn’t too many clothes to choose from. The remake should bring more ways to customize these characters and allow multiple options of male hairstyles, instead of the odd versions that we had come up with. They looked odd and not all that stylish unless you got them really short. But, hopefully, it’ll continue to add on either with downloaded content or in-game as well.
Going to Other Regions
I know this one is a long shot, but having the ability to face the old gym leaders again. It seemed to only be exclusive to Generation 2 to travel back to a previous game’s region, but I think in a remake it’s more than acceptable to visit previous regions again. If Pokemon remakes are happening, we might as well remake the game just a little bit in the gamer’s favor. Implementing the new fairy type to many of the old gym leader’s line-ups would be an interesting challenge to take on. Even if they were on a battle network system or some form of content outside of the game, I’d think hard about looking into going outside of the game.
Difficulty Levels
As someone who has been playing the game for a long time, the difficulty of the game seems to dwindle very easily. Maybe I take it a little more seriously than some gamers, but overall the game just seems like it’s not as difficult. It also could be that training is much easier than it was in Generation 1. You can over level your Pokemon by the next gym with ease with the amount of experience you receive from wild Pokemon that are adequately leveled in your journey through the game. While I’m not complaining about the difficult of training, I’m complaining about the difficulty of the game overall. There are way more extreme hints as to what the elite four consists of. I’d like to explore different options of difficulty, like in generation 2 when you can challenge the Kanto gym leaders, but at a much higher difficulty. Now, Pokemon Black and White accomplished this by having extra in-game opportunities after the main story line was completed, but I’d like to see all of these elements applied from the very beginning. I’d like for Pokemon to break the mold a bit and try to challenge me as a gamer again.
Pokemon Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire is set for release on November 21, 2014 on the Nintendo 3DS.
These are only a few things that I’d like to see come into the remakes from Hoenn, or maybe even later on in Pokemon, but I’d love hear your opinions on Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. What would y’all like to see in the game?
