Activision assert Call of Duty Ghosts for PS4 was 1080p

by GH Staff

Activision the creator of COD is currently under a lot of pressure as the graphical comparison debate of Call of Duty Ghosts has gone viral on the internet. The company cleared the ambiguity by issuing a statement explaining that the Play Station 4 version of the game was native 1080p. The statement was also sent to IGN with videos, and the website afterwards also confirmed the statement by Activision.

The heated debate of graphics did a lot of damage to Call of Duty Ghosts according to the company. The media guys at Activision have been trying real hard to control the viral debate; however the hype was much bigger than their imagination.

The issue was raised by Call of Duty Ghosts gamers and fans from around the world that the game is not running on the 1080p and the graphic results of Xbox version were much better than that of Play Station 4. The statement by the company also clarified that the day 1 patch of COD: Ghosts will only be applicable on the retail DVD’s of the game.

Activision has confirmed that the version of Call of Duty Ghosts made available to IGN for review (and displayed in the video embedded below) was presented at native 1080p. The issue described below and the corresponding day-one patch only affects retail copies of the game. The graphic quality of the game for Xbox had also been enhanced to 1080p from 720p. Interestingly the 720p graphic rate for Xbox was also much better than the so called “1080” of Play Station 4. But now the situation got normal because of the videos provided by Activision for graphical comparison.

Game bloggers and writers from all over the world criticized the company for not clarifying the situation well in time. NeoGaf termed the situation as a “Shitstorm” that is getting worse day by day.

Gamers seem to be divided on this issue; some of them claim that the videos provided by the company were not taken from the original DVD’s and are the debugged ones. On the other hand some are of the view that all the copies of Call of Duty Ghosts contained a native 1080p resolution. Most of the players were unable to even identify the difference between 720p and 1080p graphics of the game.

Whatever the reality is, it gave a slight advantage to Xbox. However, this wasn’t of much concern to the developers till they issued a statement and cleared their stance. Gaming experts termed the issue “Much Important” as it can ignite a cold war between Sony and Microsoft. But, both of the next generation console makers seem to be not worried about the issue and whenever they are contacted by the media, they referred them to Activision.

I am pretty sure we have a healthy traffic of gamers on our website including those of Xbox and Play Station 4, so do share your experience and views about Call of Duty Ghosts with us.
