We’ve been hearing more and more about EA’s future Battlefield title, Hardline. The game shifts away a bit from the conventional war-torn scenario, and sets players in a cops and robbers type of setting, reminiscent of Counter-Strike in a way. If you’ve been disappointed with Heists in GTA 5 Online, this game might just tickle your fancy.

Battlefield Hardline was supposed to be revealed in full at E3 next week, but it seems the beans were spilled slightly ahead of time. A new (and rather short) teaser trailer for the game has made its way to the internet, showing off some blood-pumping action, more than decent visuals, and of course, the release date, which seems to be set for an October 21st date. As usually the case, Battlefield games are launched ahead of Call of Duty titles. Such was the case last year, when Battlefield 4 was released in October, while Call of Duty: Ghosts was released in November. The same seems to be the case this year.

The leaked trailer was since confirmed by EA, and the date seems to be set for the 21st of October indeed. EA will be revealing more footage and information about Battlefield Hardline at E3. The game is being developed by Visceral Games, and the singleplayer campaign will focus on detective Nick Mendoza (hardly an inspired name), who’s on a vendetta to take down his former and now corrupt partners. While this does sound like the premise of a C-grade action flick, it’s a Battlefield game after all, so as long as the gameplay and multiplayer are top-notch, we won’t be complaining. The trailer initially included a PS4 exclusive logo which has since been removed, suggesting that this time around, Sony will be the one to reveal the game, instead of Microsoft, who revealed Battlefield 4 last year.

So how does the game look? Still skeptical about a rushed release after the Battlefield 4 fiasco, or are you willing to lay your fears to rest and jump in on the action with Battlefield Hardline? If you’re interested in the game, make sure to keep your eyes on E3 and us for the latest about EA’s upcoming flagship FPS.
