Have you ever wondered what would it be like to one day wake up and find yourself to be of a different gender? Japanese players are experiencing something of the sort, but in the online environment of GTA. The strange bug was discovered in the game, after the release of the so-called ‘Beach Bum’ update. It may sound a bit unbelievable, however it is not. Characters are just appearing a bit different than they usually are.
Rumors of the GTA Online bug quickly spread out in one of the most famous Japanese forums – 2ch. The bug was quickly proven by “before/after” screenshots from owners of the game and became a big laughing matter, which is now spreading throughout the web.
GTA V has proven to be one of the biggest hits, especially with the addition of the online multiplayer aspect, which improves the experience of the already wonderful universe of Grand Theft Auto. Since the release, not many bugs were experienced; however, this one is worth mentioning, not only because of its size, but because of the laughs it provides as well.
The Beach Bum update is free and offers a lot of new content. Starting from new apparel, tattoo customizations and jobs, it adds a nice summery taste to the online world of GTA V. It offers you a variation of new vehicles and weapons as well. The content is also available for the story mode of the game. It is one of the biggest updates Rockstar has made so far to the franchise; however, it is haunted by this creepy and unexplained, yet funny bug.
The update may have introduced this glitch to Japan players; however, it also fixes a lot of issues in the game as well. Starting from the one where the game magically deletes your vehicle, going through minor mission glitches to making the game a bit fairer, by removing the Team Deathmatch exploit, where a player was able to create a deathmatch with all players on the same team.
Although the update is great, what people are noticing are not the minor bug fixes, the new jobs or the vehicles and customization options. It is just too big of a deal to be looked over, and the Beach Bum update will be remembered for black characters in the game suddenly becoming white, the young quickly aging and becoming old, whilst the males and females in the game are switching places. The main source of the glitch is still unknown; however, Rockstar will probably, as always, quickly respond to the bug and return the characters back to normal.
The console war can’t be started though, as both PlayStation and Xbox users are reporting the bug. Players can only hope that there was a back-up and all the damage is reversible, because playing with a mutated version of your character is just not quite right. In the images below you can see some of the drastic changes. Let’s all laugh a bit and wish good luck and a quick recovery to our fellow GTA V players in Japan.
