Dual wielding has been confirmed with footage of the Rogue-like class in Bloodborne

Today IGN has uploaded a 4 minute video showing off the new Rogue-like class in Bloodborne, which was recorded at the Tokyo Game Show.

This Rogue-Like class is one of two classes that players at TGS could play as, although the clothes that the class is wearing looks a lot like something worn by a plague doctor. One of the first thing that should be noted is that we will be able to dual wield weapons in Bloodborne, just like in Dark Souls 2.

Unlike in Dark Souls 2 however you can now attack while backing away from enemies. This means that you’ll be able to still damage enemies while moving into a better position, or while backing away from them when you draw the attention of too many enemies.

Judging from the enemies we see, this part of the game will most likely take place in Yharnam cities residential district. This area may also be one of the first areas in the game too, since the enemies don’t have any armour on and the only shield being used is made of wooden planks.

Speaking of the combat, since Bloodborne won’t allow you to use any shields, the combat systems been tweaked a little to reflect this change. One of the biggest changes is that you can no longer roll around while your locked onto enemies. Instead, you’ll sidestepping and to be fair the sidestep does cover a good amount of distance.

This means your going to need to juggle locking on and off as the situation demands it, especially if the small horde of enemies at the end of the gameplay footage is anything to go by.

Throughout the video you may notice that whoever’s playing is easily killing all these enemies. Part of the reason for this is that since this is a demo, they likely lowered the difficulty so game journalists could see as much of it as possible. Another reason for this is that if this is an early game area, then this demo character looks a little over powered.

Despite this though the gameplay footage shows that going against multiple enemies at the same time is still as dangerous as ever, especially now that you can’t just hide behind your shield.

Bloodborne will be released exclusively for the PS4 on February 4th.
