The Crew is going to receive it’s closed beta for Xbox One and PS4 starting September 30th. For those of you who are into racing games, you might want to check this game out. Here’s why:
The Crew is no ordinary racing game. It’s open world. We’ll see in full release if it’ll stay consistent, but in past games like Need For Speed, we have gotten a couple of cities to work with. It looks like The Crew is going for all over the US. This is a massive map, which could lead to many questions. Will you be able to drive all over the country? How long will it take? We’ll see a few things in the beta that may answer this.
The beta will include 2 playable regions, Midwest and East Coast. The midwest section will include all missions and skill challenges to really get a feel for the game. To see how you traverse different regions, the East Coast will have all of its skill challenges, but no missions. The rest of the country will be available for free roam, although there won’t be any missions around them. There will be two PVP lobbies for players to race each other. Missions are playable with other friends, so it’ll act as its co-operative game early on.
Some questions are better left unanswered, but we’re wondering how this game will perform on the next-gen consoles. Gaming is shifting towards a new frontier of open world games that combine multi-player and single-player achievements. We’re also seeing gaming go into closed betas on consoles. It’s nice to get some hype for the game and be able to test it out before buying. This can be a good thing for gaming, but we’ll also have to see how it pans out.
This game does require an internet connection to play, seemingly because it’s open world and might be on the cloud.
The Crew will be releasing on November 11th, 2014 for Xbox One, PS4, and PC in North America. Australia will receive it November 13th, Europe on November 14th, and Japan on December 4th. Xbox 360 will also receive a port courtesy of Asobo Studios.
