Deep Rock Galactic’s annual Rocktoberfest event is live now and runs for two weeks after starting Thursday, September 24. The event brings new cosmetic rewards and Double XP to the co-op mining shooter, and Ghost Ship Games confirmed the details in a Steam Community announcement published September 25, which also teased big news coming next week at Coffee Stain Publishing’s Big Break Showcase.
This year’s Rocktoberfest Assignment rewards a new hat called the Freihand Tap Cap. The Hunt for Lederhosen assignment lets any player who lacks a pair of Lederhosen earn one, and it also grants previous years’ Rocktoberfest hats to players who missed them. Both assignments give players a way to collect event cosmetics during the two-week window.
Double XP and Fall Decor in the Abyss Bar
Best Wurst Beer is back on tap during Rocktoberfest, described by Ghost Ship Games as a lager served with a sausage in the same mug. Digging up and depositing a Wurst Stein mug during a mission gives the whole team Double XP for that mission, and the Abyss Bar in the Space Rig is decorated for fall.
Limited-time events have become a recurring part of the co-op shooter’s live-service cadence, a model shared by games like Helldivers 2. Rocktoberfest’s cosmetic assignments and Double XP pickups fit that limited-time structure.
Big Break Showcase Set for September 29
The Big Break Showcase, a Coffee Stain Publishing event, premieres Tuesday, September 29 at 19:00 CEST / 10:00 AM PDT on Coffee Stain’s YouTube channel. Deep Rock Galactic will share big news during the showcase, and the studio has not specified what the announcement will cover. In the Steam post, headlined “Prepare yourself for THE BIG BREAK this Tuesday, Sep. 29th,” Ghost Ship Games wrote: “We’re very excited to make our announcement.”
Everyone tuning in live will have a shot at winning free games, with giveaways of Coffee Stain titles running throughout the premiere. Ghost Ship Games also released an Official Big Break Bingo Sheet and suggested sending it to friends to follow along together. The showcase lands in a co-op shooter space that still includes games like Left 4 Dead.
