According to a recent end-of-the-year update from Bungie on its official blog, nearly 13 million people (12,869,066 players to be precise) have played Destiny.

In addition to Destiny‘s 12.87 million players, over 22.93 million Guardians have been created, and gamers have spent nearly 872.4 million hours collectively in the game as of this writing.

Bungie also revealed that over 500 people, programmers, and developers are working on both Destiny and/or its inevitable sequel.

Furthermore, Bungie is stated that the game’s new raid, “Crota’s End,” has been beaten nearly 800 times, with that number expected to rapidly increase.

Bungie informed players that Destiny‘s player count is probably about to experience some considerable growth given a huge influx of “Christmas Noobs,” – which are those who receive the game as a present for Christmas, stating the following on that matter:

“One final thought: Destiny is about to receive a stampeding influx of what gamers inevitably refer to as “Christmas Noobs.” Go easy on ’em. They’ll show up in the Crucible – lost, confused, and freshly minted as Level Fives.

They’ll arrive on the forum where you’re sort of a big deal, asking questions you discovered the answers to a long time ago. Take them under your wing. Show them the way. They’ll learn a lot from you.”

Bungie has announced that current Destiny players will receive some “small stocking stuffers” during the holidays. However, what most gamers might be looking towards if the game’s next major update, which is set to arrive sometime in January – and will include “stuff you’ve been asking for.”

What are your thoughts the statistics and numbers Bungie has shared in regards to Destiny? Are you still playing the game? Why or why not? What would you like to see added in a major update to the game?
