Halo 5 has been dark in details since 343 studios debuted their “Halo 5” trailer at E3 2013 during the Microsoft press conference. Now we are nearing the end of quarter one of 2014 and new details are being revealed. “OXM”(Official Xbox Magazine) stated that fans can be expecting a beta release later this year before the final release of the game which will most likely be an exclusive Xbox One Beta. Since this beta will most likely be taking place later this year we can highly presume a late 2014 or early 2015 release. Yet these dates are months away but thankfully Phil Spencer Corporate Vice President of Microsoft game Studios (A publisher for the Halo series) stated, “E3 planning is looking good, will have a lineup of new, announced, unannounced and hopefully unexpected.” Hopefully this means we could be getting a confirmed release date and trailer or possible game-play of this highly awaited title.
Microsoft studios as well as 343 industries mentioned that they are “Extremely committed” to the Xbox one platform and have no plans of doing a cross platform release. Phil Spencer continued on to say that “Halo 5 will be the headline game at Microsoft’s press conference at E3”. As for the game itself we know it will be running at 60 frames per second on the Xbox One and will take place shortly after the events of “Halo 4”. So far no news of an Xbox 360 release has been confirmed which is quite a scare to some Halo fans. Only the title of “Halo For Xbox One” has been given to the game which means it might be developed solely as a next gen release for the Xbox one. Furthermore a rumor has been going around of a Halo 2 anniversary edition being in the works which might possibly be the key into the “Halo 5” beta. So could this highly awaited title be the standout game that the Xbox one needs to close the gap between Sony’s PS4? Time will only tell as we come closer and closer to E3 2014.
