At the San Diego Comic Con this weekend, we got more news from 343 industries and Microsoft about the highly anticipated Master Chief Collection for Xbox One. For those of you that don’t know, Halo: The Master Chief Collection is a “bundle” of Halo: CE Anniversary, Halo 2 Anniversary, Halo 3, and Halo 4, containing every singleplayer mission and every multiplayer map and game mode. Halo 2 will be getting the full anniversary treatment, and the main focus of the Master Chief Collection. Everything you need to know about Halo: The Master Chief Collection can be found here.
During the panel hosted by 343 on Friday, July 25th, we got our first look at the new cinematics for Halo 2 Anniversary, made by Blur Studios, the company behind the Halo Wars cut-scenes. The minute long trailer shows off very impressive, almost life like, visuals and can be watched below.
Above are a few snippets from the trailer, showing off how good Blur’s new cinematics are. 343 has already said that Blur’s cut-scenes are pre-rendered, and are not exactly the same as the originals.
On top of this new trailer, we also got a bit more information on the collection.
- Halo 2 Anniversary has close to 1 hour of cut-scenes.
- There are 24 days worth of new motion capture for Halo 2 Anniversary.
- The sound for Halo 2 Anniversary is being done by Skywalker Sound, who worked on Halo: Spartan Assault.
- Halo 2 now has the most skulls of any Halo game, with about 30 to find.
- Blur Studios is also creating cinematics to bridge the events after Halo 4 and reaching to Halo 5.
- Glitches from every game will remain intact, and some will even have educational tutorials to help newcomers understand them.
- Plans for the Master Chief Collection were first discussed during the development of Halo: CE Anniversary.
- There are no plans for a special edition of The Master Chief Collection.
- Still no PC version of Halo: The Master Chief Collection.
- Dual Wielding is not planned for Halo 5, but it’s still a possibility.
And finally, 343 announced another remastered Halo 2 map.
As you can see, Zanzibar is looking as good as ever in it’s remastered state.
