Glyph Worlds has released a new update for War Selection, its free-to-play real-time strategy game in Steam Early Access. The October 10, 2026 patch adds automatic gates, interface improvements, and reworked vehicle destruction effects. Performance in large battles with many units, effects, and pieces of debris has been optimized, and models and textures needed immediately now take priority when loading.

Gate Mode and Interface Additions

Gates can now be switched to automatic mode. They open when your units or allied units approach and close after they leave. For target-based abilities, pressing the ability button repeatedly sets the number of uses, and you can then choose one shared target or location for all of those uses with a single click. Selected units with long reload times now show a weapon readiness bar below their health bar.

Units assigned to number keys now have a control group panel showing unit icons and counts. The F1 overview now shows resource income and spending per minute, the total number of combat units and their population cost, and the number of iron mines and quarries. The selected unit panel now displays icons for active effects such as buffs or slowing effects, with tooltips and remaining duration. Age of Empires II: The Viking Sagas is a recent real-time strategy expansion in a similar historical age-advancing style.

Reworked Destruction and Balance Changes

The movement of debris from vehicles, ships, and siege engines has been reworked. Falling and sliding now take each piece’s shape and the terrain into account. Dead units’ bodies and debris now collide with buildings and vehicle wrecks, and large pieces of debris collide with one another. Falling aircraft now leave a smoke trail.

The Deafening effect from projectile hits now also reduces the target’s turning speed to 35% of its normal value. Horsemen, camels, elephants, boars, mammoths, and bears now take 80% of the original damage from bullets and arrows, with armor subtracted after the reduction. Ballista, Catapult, and Onager now take 60% of the original damage from bullets and arrows. The grenade launcher operator now costs 260 material instead of 300, trains in 34 seconds instead of 40, and deals 60 damage to buildings instead of 90. Elsewhere in real-time strategy, StarCraft’s 2030 return is planned as an original open-world shooter.
