Guerrilla Cambridge’s first-person shooter title Killzone: Mercenary has received a new update allowing full support with the PlayStation TV.
According to a post made on the PlayStation Blog by Matt Porter, technical director at Guerilla Cambridge, Killzone: Mercenary’s update 1.11 is now live in every region, offering compatibility with Sony’s PlayStation TV and addressing issues from player feedback, including the integration of “a restart-from-checkpoint system” that allows users the opportunity to save their progress during a mission and return to it whenever they choose.
“When PlayStation TV was first announced, we were super excited at the idea of having Killzone: Mercenary running on a big TV screen,” Matt Porter explained.
“So, we went to work on making that idea happen, and are pleased to announce we can finally share the results. Killzone: Mercenary update 1.11 is now available across all regions, bringing full support for the PlayStation TV system to Mercenary.
“The game does indeed look fantastic on the big screen, and the DualShock controls bring a new feel to the game’s mechanics. We’ve reworked all the touch mechanics to maximize the experience when played with those controls.
“Knowing that PS Vita players will play directly with PlayStation TV players online, we’ve worked hard to ensure the game is balanced for both parties, without either one having a competitive advantage.”
Originally released on November 14th, 2013 in Japan, Sony announced during its E3 2014 press conference that the PlayStation TV would be heading to the Western market later this year. Last month, however, Sony confirmed further details regarding the PlayStation TV’s different price packages available and titles that are compatible with the device, including Rayman Origins, Metal Gear Solid and, of course, Killzone Mercenary.
PlayStation TV will launch on October 14th in North America and November 14th in Europe and Australasia.
