Attention Halo fans! The Master Chief Collection has a brand new remastered Halo 2 map to report, and it turns out to be Lockout! For those living under a rock, the Halo: Master Chief Collection essentially brings every multiplayer experience from the past four Halo games under a single roof. The biggest headliner here, is that several classic Halo 2 maps have been remastered for a brand new Xbox One engine. Along with four other amazing arenas, Lockout was a very likely and popular addition to the set.
When discussing what makes Lockout such a great map to remake, Halo 2 multiplayer guru Max Hoberman said “Lockout was the most popular small arena-style map in Halo 2. We’re paying close attention to the details and subtleties that made the original great while also making a couple of very careful, very calculated enhancements.” Among these revisions are more areas for cover in the hallway that connects the gravity lift to the sniper tower.
The good news is, you won’t be forced to deal with the remastered Lockout’s changes if you don’t want to. As with all The Master Chief Collection’s updated maps, they will only be included in addition to their unchanged Halo 2 versions. Not to mention that for Forge mode the option to disable the extra cover will be there outright. Like the original map, it’s expected that the renovated Lockout will be playable in a variety of modes including Free-for-All, Oddball, King of the Hill, 1-Flag CTF, and Team Slayer.
In case you were wondering the four other remastered maps to join Lockout in The Master Chief collection include Sanctuary, Zanzibar, Coagulation, and Ascension. However, more maps are expected to be revealed at a later date. Be sure to get your hands on a final copy of The Master Chief collection when it arrives on Xbox One November 11th in the US and 14th in the EU.
