Word has come via Nintendo’s various Twitter accounts, that Mario Kart 8‘s Mercedes Benz DLC will launch on August 27th in Japan and the UK. If you live in the US, nothing has been confirmed as of now. However, we do know that the extra content will eventually hit that territory.
Along with the arrival date, Nintendo also posted a preview trailer of what Mario Kart 8 players can look forward to in the download. The DLC contains three classic Mercedes rides including the GLA, 300 SL Roadster and the Silver Arrow. If you’re not into that sort of thing, all of the cars look to be heavy-handling representations of luxury rather than zany or flashy sports cars.
In addition to extra karts, the DLC comes as part of a significant Mario Kart 8 software update. You’ll now be able to display course maps on your TV screen instead of the gamepad. Kart settings also get saved between sessions, so that returning players don’t need to fine tune their vehicles every time they load up the game. In terms of multiplayer, online stability will be increased, and there’s a new stats window with your opponent’s collected coins, race record, and favorite character. Even if the Mercedes content doesn’t tickle your fancy, hopefully some of those tweaks will.
