According to Deadline, the “True Blood” writer, Mark Hudis, writes and creates a new series based on the film “The Illusionist”. This particular movie is just one of the films that were lined up to the list of movies planning to be adapted for a TV series.
The movie tells a story of an illusionist and magician called Eisenheim, whose role was portrayed by Edward Norton. The magician was doing his best to fight for the love and interest of the attractive and beautiful Sophie, whose role was played by Jessica Biel, over the crown prince.
The time that Hudis take its action to have its adaptation of the TV series, the story was said to be creatively tweaked slightly. The new adaptation will feature an illusionist who just got released from the prison that was also surprised with what the outside world would expose to him. After getting released, he found the love of his life, his wife, married to the crime boss, who is the same man responsible as to why he was framed up and ended up being in jail for almost a decade ago. He then came up with an idea to start his revenge. He started with a great plan and strategies to join the criminal and illegal organization and uses his magic tricks to work his way to be trusted and do what he wants to do in the first place, to kill the crime boss. The series would show how determined he is to take revenge and win the heart of his one true love.
Aside from ‘True Blood’, Hudis also worked with some TV shows like “Nurse Jackie” and “That 70’s Show” so it is not the first time he will be exposed casting in some well-known series. The movie “The Illusionist, is not the only movie that will be adapted for a television series. As other movies like ‘Rush Hour’, ‘Minority Report’ and ‘Big’ were also having its way on being adapted to the small screen.
The TV adaptation was reported to take place in New York. Hudis is just one of the executive producers of the TV series, together with Bob Yori; Electus’ Ben Silverman, who has shared the plans of having the movie adapted to a TV show; and lastly, David Clark, who did all their best to put the project into action and did what will make it possible. Still not sure with how the TV series will impact the audiences, but with the box-office success of the movie, the best can be expected.
