Microsoft Won't be Selling Xbox, Declares CEO

Speaking at the Code Conference, an event in California where those of industry influence in media and / or technology gather for a good chat about how such things impact our lives and businesses, Microsoft’s CEO Satya Nadella declared flat out that he has no plans to sell off the company’s Xbox division, despite being urged to do so by longtime investors.

I have no intent to do anything different with Xbox than we are doing today,” Nadella asserted to The Verge.

The same answer extends to Microsoft’s Bing service. Nadella explained that the even though some people may only look at Bing as a search engine, the service itself has been deeply integrated with a number of Microsoft’s products. According to Nadella, Bing also accounts for approximately 30 percent of the search market, and therefore should be compared to Apple’s iPhone if you were to imagine Bing as a player in the smartphone market.

He continued on to say that software was “the most malleable resource,” and that sometimes developing hardware was an essential contributory part of reaching that goal.

It is the thing that is really going to power all the experiences on all the devices today and tomorrow,” Nadella said. “In order to be in the hunt for those experiences, and get it right, you do need to from time to time build devices, so you don’t leave anything to chance.

Satya Nadella was made the new CEO of Microsoft back in February, succeeding the company’s previous CEO Steve Ballmer. It was also the same time when Bill Gates stepped back into Microsoft after a few years of full-time philanthropy. It’s also been reported that Bill Gates is not against Microsoft selling its Xbox division.
