Minecraft World, a new Minecraft theme park land, will open at Chessington World of Adventures in Greater London in 2027. The GBP 50 million project is a partnership between Merlin Entertainments and Mojang Studios, which describe the development as the world’s first fully immersive Minecraft theme park land. It brings the best-selling game of all time into the physical world at a major theme park for the first time. An exact opening date has not been revealed.
The Overworld in Real Life
The land recreates the game’s Overworld, with lush caves, mineshafts and plains to explore, and mobs that appear in physical form throughout the area. Mojang and Merlin say the space will offer something for every type of player, from explorers to builders. The plans also include interactive adventures, block-built playscapes, and themed retail and dining. Chessington World of Adventures sits about 35 minutes by direct train from London Waterloo, and a waitlist is open for updates. Angela Jobson, SVP of Global Brand at Merlin Entertainments, said the resort is one of the company’s most ambitious theme park developments in recent years.
Escape the Nether Rollercoaster
Escape the Nether is the world’s first Minecraft rollercoaster. Riders board a minecart and join Steve and Alex to battle through the Nether, coming face to face with hostile mobs before launching back to the Overworld. The ride includes lots of lava and runs both indoors and outdoors. Height requirements and further ride details will be announced closer to opening.
Minecraft World Hotel
Minecraft World Hotel is the world’s first Minecraft hotel, offering an overnight sleepover for guests. Visitors experience iconic biomes, eat in an underwater-themed restaurant, and recharge in a Minecraft bedroom. Even finding the room is part of the fun, with guests venturing down mineshaft corridors and keeping an eye out for diamonds. Beds are included and no crafting table is required. The hotel is not available to book yet, and further information will be released when bookings open.
Daisy Mercedes, Creative Producer at Merlin Entertainments, and Filip Keatley-Thoms, Creative Lead at Mojang, presented the update during Minecraft Live on September 26, 2026. The reveal arrived alongside Minecraft’s next game drop and the Sift dimension announced at the same event.
