Before Miyamoto “up-ended the tea table” Hyrule Warriors was going to have dungeons
Before Miyamoto “up-ended the tea table” Hyrule Warriors was going to feature more traditional Legend of Zelda gameplay, as revealed last Friday in an interview with Eiji Aonuma and Yosuke Hayashi by Nintendo Life.
According to Aonuma, the game was originally going to feature Legend of Zelda styled dungeons and even boss battles at the end of the dungeons.
That is till Miyamoto “up-ended the tea table” and said that “No, that should not be the case. What we’re doing here is grafting Zelda onto the Dynasty Warriors experience.”
Despite this pretty major change, the developers are still going to preserve everything that makes a Legend of Zelda game feel right, whether its the way characters lift items over their heads, sound effects and even bizarrely enough, the loading screens.
In past interviews Eiji Aonuma stated that he was playing another Mosua game and in this interview it’s been revealed that the game he was playing was One Piece: Pirate Warriors.
Either way its interesting to hear about what the original concept for Hyrule Warriors was before Miyamoto “up-ended the tea table”. Now games abandoning original ideas is nothing new, Dark Souls 1 for example had a NPC called Oscar who would grow jealous of you as the game went on, but Hyrule Warriors is interesting because it was originally going to be more Zelda than Dynasty Warriors.
So what’s your opinion on this news, are you happy for the change or would you have rather had the Legend of Zelda game with Dynasty Warriors elements, like the game was originally supposed to be.
