Ever since the E3 demo, many gamers have been raving about the gameplay and looks of the new addition to the very classic series of games. Awesome camera angles and brutal fatalities in addition to interactive environments have begun to set the stage for a great game. And besides, who doesn’t love beating the snot out of their friends? Virtually, of course. With this being such a legendary series, many fans are still hoping their favorite classic characters will make the roster. Luckily, it seems another fan favorite has been kept.

A Mortal Kombat Classic

Nether Realm Studios just today revealed their latest addition to the Moral Kombat X roster: Raiden. Claiming that Mortal Kombat X‘s Storm Lord Raiden is the most unique Raiden yet. This may be because of the new moves and styles they have given him. Raiden in the upcoming game will be better for those who prefer longer-ranged, keep-away type fighting, though there is a bit of a surprise that may have more in-your-face type styles raving for Raiden.

Among Raiden’s abilities in Mortal Kombat X, his teleportation will really allow the player to quickly escape a sticky situation, or confuse an opponent. Raiden will also be able to let out a few lighting bombs, which will form a current of lightning between them as they sit on the map. As cool as these things are, the newest, biggest addition will be Thunder God Raiden, a a variation big on DPS (damage per second). While this variation lacks some of the nimbleness and functionality of regular Raiden, it will allow him to put out some serious damage should it be needed in a pinch.

Raiden, while still a key figure in the plot, is said to be not as prevalent as he was in Mortal Kombat 9’s story. Nonetheless, this fan favorite will keep many excited for the new game, especially with the additions to his move list. Who knows, maybe you’ll be raving for Raiden in the new Mortal Kombat X?
