NBA 2K14 was a massive improvement to the series. There’s a complete storyline going for it and the graphics are what the next-gen systems should be up to par with. That being said, this is new programming on a next-gen system, so this is brand new to a lot of game developers. Here are a few things that need to be enhanced to make NBA 2K15 a very worth predecessor.

1)      Enhance the VC

I’m a little sad this needs to be mentioned, considering it’s the most important part of the game. VC is the credits you use to spend on specific attributes for your character, clothing, as well as other specialties like shot release/celebrations. VC was completely undervalued. Players are busting their butt off in each game in full length games, and are only able to boost up their ratings after at least 4-5 games. This creates a problem when there’s an 82 game season and you want your myPlayer to become the best in the league. Halfway through the season you can only get up to 70-75 depending on how well you do. Of course, Playstation Network allows you to buy VC through the store, but that isn’t earned through the game. It seems more pay to play to become great than to actually become better at the game. Make the right amount of VC being earned from each performance of a game to speed the game along.

2)      Hurry the Season Along

This is crucial as well, considering that these games get released every year. If you want to make new hype for the game, 2K needs to hurry the season along in myPlayer mode. You can’t expect us to try and play through all 82 games without feeling bored/tired of playing. I know you can jump to key games in the second season, but I got to the playoffs in the first season and wanted to sim through it all. We’re not professional athletes. We should be speeding through the season to be playing the game we want to play, like match-up versus LeBron or hopefully enter All-Star Weekend. Especially if 2K is going along the route of implementing a story mode (the thing I enjoy the most), there needs to be some way of skipping to just the rivalry moments/getting to the stuff that seems to stray away from just what MyGM mode could be.

3)      Crossover vs. Defense

The one thing that’s an actual gameplay mechanic is the double crossover versus defenders. Considering that it’s extremely easy to move left then right, or right then left and fly by your defender is extremely cheap. Defenders have no time to guard it because there’s a hesitation in the programming/the characters are clearly slower than the offense. It’s a very simple fix to make sure that the defense can actually play defense, but it seems to be plaguing a lot of online play as well.

These are a few things that I personally feel need to be fixed with the game, but they are not the only ones. What do you all want to be in NBA 2k15? Anything I didn’t include on my list?
