2K has officially unveiled NBA 2K27 during its Preseason Breakdown: Game Reveal stream on August 18, 2026, at 10:00 AM PT. The single-day reveal covered gameplay changes, MyPLAYER, MyTEAM, MyNBA, and The City, with the game set to release on September 4, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and Steam (PC). Gameplay: Dunk Meter and Smarter AI
One of the most significant changes is that all dunk attempts must now be timed using the Dunk Meter. The meter is fully dynamic, continuously evaluating defensive positioning from takeoff through the finish, according to 2K. This adds a new layer of skill to rim finishing.
AI defenders have also been improved. They will now contest shots more effectively and won’t be as affected by Triple-Threat Stepovers, addressing community feedback about frustrating teammates in modes like The REC.
Badges: 53 Total, 19 New
NBA 2K27 features 53 total Badges, up from 40 in NBA 2K26. 2K removed six Badges from last year and added 19 new ones, with updates to returning Badges for balance. Notable new Badges include:
- Pace: Increases overall sprint speed of the ball handler in all offensive situations.
- Wall-Up: Decreases the opponent’s shot chance when playing hands-up defense.
- Flash: Improves overall movement during transition offense (without the ball) and defense.
Cap Breakers are returning, and players can now see a preview of attribute boosts directly in the Builder, based on community feedback.
MyTEAM: Unified Auction House
For the first time, the Auction House is unified across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2, creating the largest pool of community-listed cards in MyTEAM history. MyNBA and The City
MyNBA now includes the effects of the second apron in the new CBA and adds the ability to offer No-Trade Clauses to free agents, both community-requested features.
The City retains the accessible and centralized layout from NBA 2K26 but with a new nighttime, neon aesthetic. Rucker Park, the legendary New York City court, has been recreated in-game, featuring in Street Kings and the MyCAREER prelude story titled “Fire & Concrete.”
