New gameplay video reveled for fabled “Aliens, Trolls & Dragons”

Ever heard the phrase “like Skyrim, but with guns” and simply dismissed it as a buzz term for “mildly open world game with laughably poor role playing features; but at least it has guns”. Well now it's time…

Ever heard the phrase “like Skyrim, but with guns” and simply dismissed it as a buzz term for “mildly open world game with laughably poor role playing features; but at least it has guns”. Well now it’s time to take the saying a tad more literally, with former Witcher 3 dev Jakub Kisiel unveiling a new trailer for his indie game: Aliens, Trolls & Dragons. The game is a sci-fi meets fantasy hotpot, and is based around the use of high tech weapons in an old timey, fantasy environment (we’re talking futuristic, as opposed to steampunk technology). His most recent concept hit the web a few days ago (see video below), and is slowly enticing those of whom the idea of an Witcher/Dead Space crossover is just too irresistible. Some however, might already be questioning the lore behind this seemingly absurd idea, how can a story be pulled off around such a peculiar premise?

Well, as stated over at the Kubold website, the game is set in the near future, during a period at which humanity is beginning to expand its grip into the far reaches of space. A squad of Earth scouts are sent out to survey a planet which is suspected to house a civilisation of intelligent life forms, and they soon find their suspicions are correct. The world is inhabited by a remarkably humanoid alien race, of whom are still working their way through what we know as medieval times. Due to technical reasons however, the squad cannot leave the planet, and are eventually captured by the locals. The resultant story is of course, executing an escape plan. The game is currently being developed in the ever-growing unity engine, and is intended to support full use of the Oculus Rift. This means a virtual reality sim in which we shoot alien dragons with lasers, what’s not to like?Aliens, Trolls & Dragons is set to release in three separate single player episodes on both PC and Mac, the first of which we are hoping to see sometime this Fall. Pre-orders are not yet available, but we will be keeping up to date with Kubold in the near future in order to bring latest developments to our users.
