Without Memory

The launch of Without Memory‘s official website earlier this morning brought an onrush of traffic to the upcoming exclusive heading to the PlayStation 4, causing questions to be thrown at Dinosaurum regarding the game’s execution on the next-gen console. The details that numerous sources received during the unveiling of the official website domain bordered on the developmental side of the cumbersome project rather than focusing on the thriller’s narrative. Without Memory, developed in Unreal Engine 4 as stated by Dinosaurum Studios, has been described as a third-person ‘psychological’ thriller inspired by Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls. The influence that Quantic Dream studios had on Without Memory has not been explored, but the allusions between the releases have been familiar.  Striking the chord of an immersive story-telling experience, since all actions will be detrimental as to force the player to shoulder their difficult decisions and the consequences that’ll accompany them.

Without Memory is said to follow a girl named Anna who is suffering from amnesia, prior to the game’s events she awaken in the woods without a sense of recollection. Arkadiy Kulikov was asked in an interview with GamingBolt if Without Memory would be able to achieve a high visual standard and target 1080p/60 FPS. With visual masterpieces such as Infamous: Second Son and Watch_Dogs as preceding benchmarks for the imminent future of PlayStation 4 releases, the producer behind the studio confirmed that Without Memory is aiming to accomplish both.

As for the reasoning behind the usage of Unreal Engine 4, Kulikov commented that: “UE4 is a convenient engine. It allows to make the most realistic visuals.” Considering the multitude of games that have been constructed using Unreal Engine 4, it came as little surprise that the game would look to accomplish ‘realistic graphics’ while utilizing the flexible engine.

It will take advantage of the DualShock 4′s touchpad in order to maintain a dialogue system as well as make use of what the studio has been referring to as a “modernized” perception on quick-time effects. Without Memory will also feature a semi-open world; and various side-quests and puzzles to keep the player engaged with the game’s comprehensive plot. Although the earliest estimation for the game’s launch is somewhere in 2016, details regarding its inevitable crash on the PlayStation 4 and what it’ll command of next-gen platforms has already begun.

Feel free to leave a comment below, as we’d be interested to hear your expectations and comments on Without Memory‘s promises as an upcoming PS4 exclusive. Stay tuned in for more details following Dinosaurum’s public launch for the next-gen title and possible interviews in the future.
