Capcom and Base Camp Kawaba have teamed up in Japan for a real life Resident Evil survival game. All players suit up with airsoft guns and enter combat in the facility’s parking structure with has been turned into a replica of Raccoon City.
Teams in this game are split up into red vs yellow capture the flag gamemode, or a “heroes vs zombies” gamemode, in which the zombies can come back from the dead (reminds me of having to survive as many waves of zombies as possible!) There’s also an escort style mode in which one team must escort a group of scientists, protecting them from the zombies.
I’ve been paintballing several times before, so I know how fun it can be. What really sounds exciting is the “heroes vs zombies” mode. Imagine yourself with a group of friends, holed up in your last line of defence, desperately trying to kill the ever returning horde, you begin to run out of ammo, and one by one your teammates fall. This is pretty much as close as we can get to a real-life version of Resident Evil.
Unfortunately, this is only available for a limited time, and the event ends on October 30th. So if you’re in Japan and fancy killing some zombies (or just hurting other people with airsoft guns), head over to the event while you can! With the apparent leak of Resident Evil: Revelations 2, this seems like the perfect way to hone your zombie killing skills before it hits.
