Capcom hinting next Resident Evil game to fans

by GH Staff

It is no surprise that the Resident Evil series has turned away from its roots from being a survival-horror game, to a more action packed series, which had fans upset as a result of this change. Resident Evil 6, the last game that followed the main series, was a huge disappointment despite its attempts to please the fan base by offering three separate, yet, unique campaigns. Covering all elements, Capcom believed that it could deliver players who wanted elements of survival-horror, mixed in with fast paced action. The result was overhyped and poorly executed. In spite of all this, the game sold fairly well, enough to consider a sequel, which some have rumored to be in development for some time now.

Capcom has now dropped a solid hint that there is another Resident Evil game in the works. On their Capcom Unity blog, they have asked fans to check out the Resident Evil page on facebook to answer a simple question. What were your favorite moments in Resident Evil history? The idea is to get gamers a chance to submit their favorite memory in an upcoming Capcom title.  If you see the page, it is apparent their talking about the their most recognizable franchise.  The zombie survival-horror game was the first to establish a new genre in video games. It helped spawned numerous titles into the industry, which would have not been possible, if Resident Evil had not debuted back in the late 90’s. This indicates that Capcom is trying to reestablish the series with the fans.

Whether or not this is a sequel or even a reboot remains to be seen. However, it is exciting to see that the developers are working with players to achieve the best experience with the franchise.  What direction do you believe Capcom will take Resident Evil next? Let us know in the comments below.
