For years, Four Funnel Entertainment has been working on an upcoming video game called Titanic: Honor and Glory. As folks can probably guess, the ambitious project requires a tremendous amount of work, but never-the-less, the industrious developers are still aiming to create a realistic masterpiece. Despite seeing the fine interior decorations, interested fans are still wondering about how realistic will the water be?
Of course, the popular question is not technically about how realistic the water will flow or look around the ship. They wanted to know how will the water look when the ship is sinking. In video games, the water rising often looks flat. To answer this question and more, the creators uploaded another video.

In this long footage, Steve Hall and Thomas Lynskey quickly introduce themselves and the purpose for this video at the beginning. Steve Hall, a Titanic historian for over thirty years, appeared as a guest from Australia and read each question for Thomas Lynskey to answer. At approximately 2:10 to 3:29, audiences can finally hear their answer or read the text:
“This has been a very important focus of ours throughout the production of this game because it’s not a good Titanic game unless it has semi-realistic flowing water. Water is one of the biggest difficulties in any video game engine has. There actually was only one game that comes to mind that has semi-realistic water. It was a few years ago, and it was called Hydrophobia. I never played it, but I’ve seen clips of it. And, we are aiming to do something like that. In fact, this water effect question is one of the main reasons why we switched over to Unreal [Engine 4] instead of Cry ENGINE, so we’re going as real as possible. Whatever the best is, that’s out there. We will do our best to integrate it into the engine. If computer technology doesn’t allow it at the time, we’re just gonna have to make it work with what’s ever available.”
Meanwhile, here’s the list of questions that they’ve mentioned as well, starting from the top to bottom:
- How realistic will the water be?
- Will you be able to sink the ship in Tour Mode?
- Will any side stories or conspiracies be included in the game?
- Will the player be able to walk on walls and slide as the ship tilts?
- Is this mainly an historical reconstruction, and can it be used for educational purposes?
- What will we choose for the final song that the band will play as the ship sinks?
- How will we handle character development of various characters?
- What will multiplayer be like?
- Will we be able to use the Kodak 1911 VP Camera and potentially take screenshots?
- Can we ask other characters anything we want, or are there pre-set options?
- Will we be able to control the ship’s whistles?
