A Review of the Specs and Features of Samsung Galaxy Gear

There’s no stopping the Korean giant from producing the best, most high-end devices that always become major hits in the market-just like the Samsung Galaxy Gear which is what we’ll learn more about today. This latest venture of Samsung is actually the first of all manufactures to put together various smartphone features into a digital timepiece. If you want to know more of what this gadget has to offer, let’s go ahead and review its specs.

Camera Specifications

Who would have thought that a watch can also have a camera attached to it? The Samsung Galaxy Gear comes equipped with a 1.5MP shooter that allows the user to take snaps and create videos as well. The major downside here is that the clicker sound of the camera is quite loud and there’s no option to mute it.

This digital watch’s camera has an aspect ratio of 1:1 when taking photos, its resolution is 1392×1392 pixels but there’s an option to go lower at 1280×960 pixels for clicking snaps of aspect ratio of 4:3.

Photo and Video Quality

A Review of the Specs and Features of Samsung Galaxy GearThe quality of photos taken from the Samsung Galaxy Gear are not impressive if the standards are based on the smartphones currently available in the market but if it is based on the watch criteria, the results are very remarkable especially in natural and illuminated scenes.

For the video calling quality of the Galaxy Gear, the same thing can be said but for what it is worth, this gadget is capable of capturing 15 seconds of video with a resolution of 640×640 pixels and 720ppi pixel density.

Gallery App

This gadget offers a dedicated Gallery app for the user which allows the swiping across different photos and zooming in for minor details. There’s also an option for the user to delete an image or video if he wants to or if not, transfer data to the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 via Bluetooth.

It must be noted that the Samsung Galaxy Gear will only work with the Galaxy Note 3 in the meantime so if you’re planning to buy this, make sure that you have the Note 3 because if not, the gadget will be useless. In case it’s not possible for you to get the Note 3 yet, you might as well wait for updates from Samsung because there are rumors that the company is working rigorously to also make the gadget compatible with other devices like the Galaxy S4 and Note II. Overall, the performance of the camera of this digital watch is decent, but the quality of sound recording is pretty bad as it seems to get high-pitched.
