Rune Factory 4 was never released in Europe, but this farming/action role-playing game managed to arrive in North America on October 1, 2013. After one whole year since the North American debut, European fans who love the Rune Factory series can celebrate its possible return. According to a rating found on the website of Entertainment Software Self-Regulation Body (abbreviated in German as USK), which is basically Germany’s video games rating board. Here’s a screenshot:
As a quick reminder and background history, the European localization of Rune Factory 4 was cancelled when Neverland Co. filed for bankruptcy last year. Publisher XSEED Games shed light on the cancellation, saying “[The localization] is very difficult from a technical aspect since the people closest to the code are all gone.”
Now, it seems that there is finally some hope for European Rune Factory fans. With the German rating board USK giving Rune Factory 4 a rating, this small sign is almost an absolute confirmation that this video game will arrive in Europe for the Nintendo 3DS. Unfortunately, the ratings page has listed the language as English. Due to the obstacles that XSEED Games have faced in localising the game, it will probably only be available in English for all of Europe. While this may be inconvenient for some, the fact that the game is being localized at all after its cancellation is something to be elated about.
