Samsung Galaxy Note 4 Fresh Rumor Round-Up – Specs, Release Date and More

by GH Staff

It’s been awhile since we’ve rounded up all the leaking information about the Samsung Galaxy Note 4, and many details have emerged since. The Note 3 is the second major flagship phone coming out this year from Samsung, and follow the recently released Samsung Galaxy S5. The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 was released about a year ago, and it’s still one of the strongest (and largest) phablets around. If size matters to you, the Note 3 definitely delivers, and so will the Note 4.

As is traditionally the case with the Samsung Galaxy Note line, the phablet will most likely be released at IFA 2014. Previous models were always launched around this event (fall season), and we see no reason why the Note 4 would become the exception. Recent leaks and rumors suggest that the Note 4 will launch slightly before the IFA, which kicks off on the 5th of Setpember, coming out two days ahead, on the 3rd. The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 will likely represent the 2nd episode of an Unpacked event, as the Galaxy S5 was dubbed ‘Episode 1’.

Keep in mind that this is the device’s launch event, and doesn’t mean that the Note 4 will immediately become available at carriers around the world. The most reasonable expectations should be to see it arrive at Verizon, Sprint and AT&T in October, ready to compete with the Apple iPhone 6 releasing in the same time period. Typically, Samsung takes around 5-6 weeks to release a phone since its announcement, so if the 3rd of September is the Note 4’s announcement day, mid-October is when we’ll be seeing it and buying it.

In terms of design, there are a lot of things rumored for the Note 4. Most commonly, industry insiders believe that the Note 4 will bring Samsung’s revolutionary 3-sided curved display, but that’s just speculation at this point. In all honesty, it’s unlikely to happen so soon. My bet is that the Note 4 won’t be game-changing in terms of display standards, but will radically change the bland plastic design, by incorporating the same dust and water resistance features we’ve seen in the Samsung Galaxy S5 and the Xperia Z2. Still, while a bent display is unlikely, expect a QHD display in the Note 4 with impressive PPI, similar to what we’ve seen in the LG G3 recently. A Snapdragon 805 Quad-Core CPU is likely to make its way to the Note 4, along with 3 or 4 GB of RAM and the Adreno 330 GPU.

In terms of features, the Note 4 will probably round up everything Samsung has been working on so far – expect a finger-print sensor, the new Samsung Motion Launcher, Aqua Mode for underwater filming/photo shooting (assuming the device will indeed be water-proof), and a Health oriented kit similar to what we’ve seen in the Galaxy S5. The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is also likely to come paired with the Samsung Gear 3, the 3rd generation smartwatch from Samsung, one that we’re also expecting to see this fall.

So there you have it – the Note 4 promises to bring a lot, and consequently, will cost a lot too. The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is still rather expensive, so expect the same from the Note 4 too. A reasonable estimation would be at the $800 mark, but that also depends on a bundle with the Gear 3. We’ll certainly know for sure in September!
