In May, Samsung Galaxy S5 was released and in July, the much-awaited Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini came out. Both of them are, indeed, offering top quality performances and features.
Samsung Galaxy S5 Active comes with a 5.1-inch display which is super AMOLED, while S5 Mini has a 4.5-inch Super AMOLED display which is clearly smaller. The Galaxy S5 Mini uses a pixel density, which is 326ppi and a 720 x 1280 screen resolution, while S5 Active uses 432 ppi for its pixel density and 1080 x 1920 for its screen resolution.
Galaxy S5 Mini’s external appearance is quite similar to S5 Active’s, especially with its rear portion made of perforated plastic. However, it is distinct for its fake metal tape which is glossy and is covering the corners of the device. Plus, S5 Active appears to be S5’s rough version. It has this rugged body, flat dark panel and edges protected using consolidated plastic.
When it comes to the weight and thickness, S5 Active is 170 grams and 0.35 inches thick. Samsung Galaxy S5, on the other hand, is 120 grams and is 0.36 inches thick. S5 Active, obviously, is heavier, which can be blamed to the handset’s roughness.
It’s really vital to remember that these two devices are water and dust resistant. Plus, S5 Active is shock-resistant, as well. Thus, it is certified with MIL STD 810 G and IP 67.
S5 Active uses a Krait 400 processor, which is quad-core and is running at 2.5GHz. It also has a RAM of 2GB. S5 Mini, on the other hand, uses a quad-core processor, as well, which is of Cortex A7 and is running at 1.4 GHz. S5 Mini is also providing a RAM of 1.5 GB. These two smartphones use the operating system Android v 4.4.2 KitKat along with the Touch-Wiz UI of Samsung.
Both have the same internal memory capacity as they both use 16GB. These two also support memory expansion for up to 64GB for S5 Mini and 128GB for S5 Active. The battery of S5 Mini is a replaceable 2100 mAh, while S5 Active uses one which is 2800 mAh.
The main camera that S5 Mini is using has a high quality LED flash along with 8MP and just like S5 Mini, S5 Active also uses an LED flash, but it has a better camera which is 16MP. Also, both of these have front facing cameras that are 2MP and 2.1MP, respectively.
