While Samsung has been giving us good tablets of late, we are getting new brand of tablets from Asus. Belonging to different flagships, they bring their own unique specialty, but can we truly pin down Asus’s memo pad 8 against Tab 3 8.0 in terms of specs?
Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 8.0
This tab was released in the second quarter of 2013. Samsung tried to redefine its Galaxy Tab series with its 8.0 inch display tablet. How far has it succeeded in doing so?
Design & Display
The screen is a brilliant 8.0 inch with 189 pixels per inch resolution. We could have expected a little higher screen resolution for better visuals. However the super clear LCD makes up for this gap. The light and proximity sensors are some of its other add-on features. But it lacks scratch resistance given that it is basically a tablet.
Specifications, Camera & Battery
It has a 5 mega pixels rear camera with CMOS image sensor, geo tagging, and panorama and night mode as well. It records videos at 720p high definition. The front camera is 1.3 mega pixels which could’ve been better. A 1.5 GHz Dual core processor with 1536 MB RAM should give you a very high performance smoothly on this tab. It sports 32 GB built in storage with a 64 GB expandable memory slot. Overall this tab is a decent one for its price.
Asus memo pad 8
This tab features Android Kit Kat version. It is a more recent release than Tab 3 8.0. This tab has pros and cons of its own.
Design & Display
This tab too has an 8 inch display with a 283 pixel per inch density on its screen making it a brighter tab among the two. You would expect a tab to have this much brightness at the very least. It has scratch resistant glass – which Tab 3 8.0 lacks. It also has oleophobic coating and a light sensor on its screen. This tab is a little more graspable and a little lighter than Tab 3 8.0.
Specifications, Camera & Battery
It has a 5 mega pixels camera even though the camera lacks auto focus and LED flash. The front facing camera is 1.2 mega pixels. The 2.3 GHz Quad core processor along with 2 GB RAM provided is sure to give superior performance. This is where it is an edge above the Tab 3 8.0. There is built in storage of 32 GB however, it lacks expandable memory slot.
Overall
If you want a superior performance tab with all business features intact, we suggest to go for Asus Memo pad 8 – even though it lacks better camera features, this tab has a high performance capacity of the two.
