Rice Games has announced that Shujinkou will launch on the Epic Games Store on September 9, 2026. The new version will support both Windows and macOS, giving players another storefront through which to access the story-driven, turn-based dungeon-crawling JRPG.
All editions will receive a $20 launch discount, according to the official announcement. The Epic Games Store release will include 70 achievements, 26 leaderboard integrations, cloud saves, and controller support, while two expanded editions will offer additional digital content and character-focused quests.
A dungeon crawler with optional Japanese learning
Shujinkou was developed over more than six years and combines a full-scale turn-based dungeon-crawling RPG with an optional Japanese language-learning system. The learning component is not required to play through the wider adventure, allowing players to approach it as either a conventional JRPG or a game supplemented by language material.
Rice Games says the campaign contains more than 80 hours of story content. Its broader structure encompasses 16 handcrafted labyrinths, more than 200 quests, and over 180 skills used across combat and exploration. The Japanese-language material ranges from beginner through advanced levels.
The game previously reached Steam, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch in 2025. Its Epic Games Store debut therefore expands its PC storefront presence while also retaining support for macOS.
Deluxe editions add quests, costumes, and music
Two expanded versions will accompany the standard game at launch. The Shujinkou Deluxe Edition includes the full game, a digital artbook, and a select soundtrack containing 22 curated pieces from the score.
The Shujinkou Super Deluxe Edition contains the full game, digital artbook, and select soundtrack, along with the Swimsuit Quests and Akuma Quests. Each of those quest sets introduces 18 character-focused missions involving the game’s six partner characters. They also include exclusive costumes and additional story content.
Together, the two quest sets account for 36 additional missions. That makes the Super Deluxe Edition the option aimed at players seeking the extra character stories, while the regular Deluxe Edition concentrates on the accompanying art and selected music.
Epic integration includes achievements and leaderboards
Rice Games has detailed several storefront-specific features for the Epic Games Store version. Players will have access to 70 achievements and 26 leaderboard integrations, in addition to cloud-save functionality and controller support. Windows and macOS are both included in the announced platform coverage.
The separate Shujinkou Original Soundtrack will also join the Epic Games Store. It is a seven-disc collection featuring 158 tracks and nearly seven hours of music. Its range of styles includes classical, rock, metal, jazz, and electronic music, alongside Japanese and Chinese traditional influences and Middle Eastern-inspired compositions.
According to Rice Games, the score was created by composers and musicians from the United States and Japan. Warner Music Japan handled mastering for the soundtrack.
Recognition beyond the original platform launch
Rice Games also highlighted several appearances and honors received by Shujinkou during 2026. The game was nominated for Best Hidden Gem at the New York Game Awards and featured in a Waseda University lecture examining JRPG design alongside its gameplay and learning mechanics.
The title was additionally showcased at BitSummit 2026, where Rice Games participated as an official sponsor. Those appearances reflect the two distinct parts of the project presented by the developer: a substantial dungeon-crawling RPG and an optional language-learning framework integrated into the same game.
Shujinkou will arrive on the Epic Games Store for Windows and macOS on September 9, 2026. The standard, Deluxe, and Super Deluxe editions will all be covered by the announced $20 launch discount, with the complete original soundtrack offered separately through the storefront.
