I think we can all agree that collection-releases are pretty awesome. Collections and franchise-packs allow for gamers to have a second-chance at games that they may have missed out on in the past. Personally, I missed out on a few of the Mega Man games, due to a dead NES, and not owning a PS2. Fortunately, I now own a majority of the older titles, thanks to the Mega Man Anniversary Collection on GameCube, and the Mega Man X Collection for PS2. While it’s not exactly an HD-remake, it’s still one of the better ways to go back and experience older games.
While they may not be coming to PS4 [as of right now], Ico and Shadow of the Colossus were released on the PS3 with visual upgrades. Sony Computer Entertainment Japan Asia announced that Ico and Shadow of the Colossus will release in China, along with Journey, as part of the “Artistic Pack” PS3 collection. While it has yet to be confirmed for any other regions, the Artistic Pack contains The Ico & Shadow of the Colossus Collection and the Journey Collector’s Edition. The package will go on sale July 1, and is priced at HK$268- or approximately $35 in US currency. Along with the Artistic Pack, Sony is also releasing the Ultimate Kids Pack the same day. Running at the same price, the Ultimate Kids Pack contains both Little Big Planet 2: Special Edition and Little Big Planet Karting.
Sony also has two more triple packs planned for release in late July. Starting on July 22, Chinese gamers will be able to purchase both The Ultimate God of War Pack, and the Ultimate Uncharted Pack. The God of War package contains God of War Collection, God of War III and God of War: Ascension. Releasing the same day is the Uncharted collection, which contains the complete console trilogy, with Game of the Year editions for both Uncharted 2: Among Thieves and Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception. Both packages will run for roughly $47.
It should be expected for even more video game collections and packages to release throughout the year for China, as the country lifted its 14-year ban on video game consoles back in January.
