As reported by Deadline on Tuesday, June 3, it seems that Sony is finally in talks with a potential director to lead the live-action movie adaptation of the critically acclaimed stealth videogame Metal Gear Solid.
The company is currently in early talks with The Kings of Summer director Joran Vogt-Roberts to lead the Metal Gear Solid movie. According to Deadline, the movie is also being produced by Avi Arad (Iron Man) and Michael De Luca (The Social Network).
Allegedly, the reason why it took so long for the process to get this far was because Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima and Sony were still wrestling with how to tell the story of the franchise’s protagonist Solid Snake.
Kojima announced that there would be a movie adaptation of Metal Gear Solid back in 2006, but the project was later stalled in early 2010 with the notion that production probably wouldn’t continue. Two years later in August, 2012, it was revealed that production for the movie was back in action, and that former Marvel Entertainment CEO Avi Arad would be producing the project.
We’ll bring you more on the Metal Gear Solid movie should more information reach our ears.
