Well, it’s nearly here. The final hours of many gamers’ glorious Christmas in June is nearly at an end. That’s right- the Steam Summer Sale of 2014 only have hours left before we must wait another year. While many of you may be celebrating your delicious hauls of newly purchased games, there is still a chance to pick up some great games for about a bag of chips and some pocket lint.
But there’s so much! What do I buy when I want everything? Well, if you’re feeling like a kid in a candy store, watering at the mouth with all of the ridiculously marked-down prices, you’re in luck! I’m here to give you my top 10 picks of the Steam Summer Sale that will still be available for a few more hours. These games will be the biggest bang for your buck, and should be able to keep you going until next summer’s sales… Or at least for the next few months, until a few more sales will be happening.

#10: Portal 2
Ah, a classic from Valve! Portal 2 is not a new game, but that doesn’t mean it’s still not fun to laugh at Wheatly, carry around PotatOS, and cuddle a few companion cubes. All the better if you invite a friend. And at $4.99, it’s hard to say no to hours of puzzle-y goodness.
#9: Borderlands 2: Game of the Year Edition
Move over Wheatly, it’s time to pay a visit to our (not so) favorite robot -Claptrap! Once again, though Borderlands 2 isn’t necessarily a new game, it’s certainly a fun one. Hours of gun-slinging badass-ery is so worth $9.99. Though maybe we should ask Steam to knock off a few dollars for having to pay a visit to Claptrap.
#8: Bioshock Infinite
While not totally new, Bioshock Infinite is still a great game. And if you’re like me and never quite got around to playing it, now’s the chance to pick it up! Meet the ever-lovely Elizabeth for $7.49, and play through a great story.
#7: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim -Legendary Edition
It’s hard for me not to fangirl over this one, as it’s only my favorite game. Years since its release, and Skyrim is still a popular game, consistently making “Top Seller” in Steam’s Summer Sales for the past few summers. Explore the land of Skyrim (or the land of mod-it-until-it-crashes), and pick up all of its DLC + a few bonus features for only $13.99. I know I did…

Terraria is a cute little sandbox game where you dig, explore, and build. Yes, it’s not a new game, but you may as well buy it. Why’s that, you ask? Because it’s $1.99. Seriously, pass up on buying that pack of gum and get yourself this game.
#5: Fallout New Vegas -Ultimate Edition
Jump back into the Fallout world and keep your Fallout cravings filled until the release of Fallout 4. It may be awhile…

A relatively new release, Thief is a first-person stealth game, and quite ironically the perfect name for you Steam Summer Sale shoppers. With this being a new title, it’s a great find for only $14.99
#3: Dark Souls II
Having trouble sleeping at night? Well no worries! With Dark Souls II, you’ll be sleeping like a baby, after having cried for hours upon end due to your numerous untimely deaths. A hardcore RPG, and a relatively new release, this one is definitely one to grab, especially at only $33.49, compared to the regular $50.
#2: Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag
Get ready for the anticipated release of AC Unity by grabbing a copy of Black Flag. There’s still time to be a pirate before you eagle-dive straight into the French Revolution. Fill the Assassin’s Creed void in your life by picking it up for only $19.99.
Drum roll please. #1: Wolfenstein: The New Order
Another relatively new release! Wolfenstein is an action-adventure FPS, and has gotten solid reviews from popular and typically spot-on gaming sites. Filled with a lot of guns and shooting Nazis. It has been called well-paced and a celebration of the series. Originally priced at $60, you can steal this game for only $29.99! I gave this first place because of it’s relatively newer release date in addition to its solid gameplay, next gen graphics, and great price.
Well that wraps up this steam summer sale. If you need me I’ll be rolling around in the piles of new games I’ve just bought until the next round of sales in a few months. Figuratively, of course. It’s a bit difficult to roll around in virtual items.
