The Last of Us on PS4 to be pushed past 60 fps by Naughty Dog

A new programmer over at Naughty Dog, Corrinne Yu has recently taken to twitter, and has some interesting news for any fans of The Last of Us. She claims that the team over at Naughty Dog is hard at work in order to push The Last of Us for Playstation 4 past 60 frames per second. The exact tweet she sent out is as follows.

“We are coding hard over the weekends with our Naughty Dog graphics team to push The Last of Us past 60 fps.” The lead programmer for The Last of Us over at Naughty Dog, Christian Gyrling,  has also taken to twitter. He says that he and the team are working very hard to patch out the last few performance bugs that have been slowing the game’s performance. His exact words are: “After 4 days of digging around in CPU/GPU traces I finally figured out what was slowing us down. On to the next perf bug! #TheLastOfUs#PS4” The team over at Naughty Dog have definitely been handling the port of The Last of Us to PS4 very well, and with the release of the game drawing near, Naughty Dog has been hard at work to ensure the final game is of a very high quality.

The Last of Us for PS3 was originally released June 14th, 2013. It was very well received, getting many perfect reviews. It also received over 200 Game of the Year awards. In it’s first week, the game sold over 1.3 million units. As of March, 2014, the game has accordingly sold an upwards of 6 million units around the world. A DLC episode for The Last of Us, called Left Behind, was released on February 14th, 2014. It was long rumored that The Last of Us would be ported over to PS4, but Naughty Dog community strategist Eric Monacelli, simply said “We have no plans to do that.” But, finally, on April 9th, 2014, Sony officially announced that The Last of Us Remastered, the improved PS4 version of the game, would be released in the “third or fourth quarter of 2014.

“The development of The Last of Us Remastered for PS4 began immediately after The Last of Us for PS3 was completed. It has already been confirmed that The Last of Us Remastered for PS4 will run a native 1080p resolution, and, as we have just learned, will run over 60 fps, but an exact number is not yet known. Included with the purchase of The Last of Us Remastered, you will also get in-cinematic director commentary, as well as the DLC for both Multiplayer and Singleplayer. The Last of Us Remastered releases July 29th, 2014 for the PS4. As of now, the game will cost fans $59.99 USD, which may seem high to players who have already purchased the game for PS3. Naughty Dog has said that they are looking into a discount for those who bought The Last of Us for PS3 and plan to buy it again for PS4. As of yet, there has been no further comment on this discount.
