The Last of Us Remastered, Sony’s swift 1080p version of their bestselling game of a similar name, has topped 632 thousand copies within its first week of going on sale, proving that there’s a market for next gen ports of games not even a year old. PS4 sales are also up by 50% (or 178 thousand units), boosted by the launch of the game.
This also means that with its opening week sales alone, The Last of Us Remastered is now the third biggest game on the fledgling platform. The only games to sell more on the platform have been Ubisoft’s Watch_Dogs and Sony’s infamous: Second Son, which sold 1.5 million and nearly 700 thousand copies respectively.
It’s still a long ways away from catching up to last year’s PS3 smash hit The Last of Us, which won itself a whole mess of industry awards and praise from gamers and critics alike, which in the end amounted to a whopping grand total of over 7 million copies sold. Will the Remastered version come close? Not likely. If you haven’t played the game yet and want the best version of the game out there though, the updated PS4 version is really a no-brainer.
