The Lead Engine Programmer working on The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has said that he thinks the upcoming DirectX 12 update will not be enough to fix the current issues that are apparent with running The Witcher 3 on the Xbox One.

After speaking with GamingBolt during a short interview, Balazs Torok had this to say about his thoughts on the upcoming DirectX 12 update:

“I think there is a lot of confusion around what and why DX12 will improve. Most games out there can’t go 1080p because the additional load on the shading units would be too much. For all these games DX12 is not going to change anything…They might be able to push more triangles to the GPU but they are not going to be able to shade them, which defeats the purpose. To answer the first question, I think we will see a change in the way graphics programmers will think about their pipelines and this will result in much better systems hopefully.”

Unfortunately, The Witcher 3 is not the first game that has had problems running at 1080p on the Xbox One, as many other games from launch simply won’t run at the 1920 x 108op resolution, this is quite a shame considering the breathtaking visuals that are possible with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
