Thomas Was Alone, the critically acclaimed indie platformer, will be hitting PS4 digital shelves soon according to the Playstation blog. Curve Studios is known for porting other games, such as Thomas Was Alone, The Swapper, Proteus, and Lone Survivor. We’ll have to see what they can do with Thomas Was Alone.
Thomas Was Alone is an engaging indie platformer, telling the story of a computer mainframe where somehow multiple artificial intelligence routines have developed their own personalities and thus spin out of control. Each shape has their own personality, which is described to you through narrator Danny Wallace, who happened to pick up a BAFTA Games award for his performance within the game. Each shape also has their own place to be in the game, so the gameplay consists of you using the shape’s abilities in order to have them fit into their specific spot in the mainframe. This is where the platforming comes into play, as you maneuver the mainframe in order to get all these shapes into the right position.
Originally released as a flash game in 2010, it then expanded in 2012 to a much bigger game, being released on Windows and Mac systems through Steam. The PS3 and PS Vita versions were developed in 2013 as well as a Linux version for one humble bundle.
This is one of the many games that Sony has decided to let be remastered and rereleased onto the PS4. I’m still unsure about having older games come to the next gen systems. It’s nice to have these games available for us to play, but in some gamer’s eyes, it may be time to start building new games. Destiny was such a hit, even if there are mixed reviews. It’s new, innovative, and trying something different. While, I will enjoy that Thomas Was Alone is coming to the PS4, I’ll also want to see some new games coming out for the system. But that’s just the opinion of a PS4 user.
Thomas Was Alone will be arriving later this year, with no specific date of when. Hopefully that will be released soon!
What do you think of Thomas Was Alone Coming to the PS4? You excited to replay? Play for the first time? I’d love to know your thoughts in the comments down below!
