That’s right folks. Nintendo will be adding yet another notch to its already impressive belt with its newest addition to the Pokemon franchise. Pokemon Art Academy is expected to be released this October for the Nintendo 3DS.
If you’re like me, you’ve probably wondered what other kind of game they could make. We already learned how to take awesome pictures with Pokemon Snap, how to battle with countless Pokemon titles, and even how to use the abilities of Pokemon in order to protect them in the Pokemon Ranger games. We even got to play awesome mini games with Pokemon Stadium 1 and 2.
This time around, we’re going to be learning how to draw Pokemon! Don’t worry, there are over forty lessons so you can start with the basics. And if you’re like me and can only draw a Ditto or Voltorb, those lessons are going to come in handy. They slowly increase in difficulty so you can really improve without feeling like you’re being rushed to draw better. There is even an undo button in case you make a mistake.
The lessons not only teach about drawing lines, but also about various art techniques involving shading, airbrushing, shadowing, etc. You even get to work with pastels! The game features two main modes; one utilizing outlines to draw over to help people learn how to make the lines, and a free paint mode which allows the player to draw freestyle. You can unlock over a 100 pictures to use as a reference, or you can use free paint and draw a baby vulpix or your very own pikachu if you so desired. You can even take pictures with your 3DS camera and use the pictures you take as your model.
Impressed by your own creations? Save them and share them with your friends! This game allows you to not only share your pictures with your friends, but also the entire Miiverse! If you’re looking for ways to learn how to improve or develop your artistic skills, this is definitely something to keep tabs on. Gameplay from Pokemon Art Academy
