Top 10 Most “American” Games

by GH Staff

Happy Independence Day, my fellow Americans. Today marks a joyous occasion where we celebrate our freedom, liberty, and…Ok, who am I kidding- today is the one day of the year where it’s perfectly alright to get drunk and blow things up, all in the name of patriotism. It’s the only day of the year where we can put aside our differences, and sport our true colors- whether it’s with the national flag, or sported on a bikini. It is on this day, that the spirit of America possesses all of us (or it could just be the alcohol) to do crazy, and often ridiculous things, to show our support for this grand nation of ours. That said, here is my personal- yet skewed and incredibly satirical- list of titles that reflect the American spirit. I present to you, “The Top 10 Most ‘American’ Games”.

Boom. It’s right there- the first word in the title. Not only that, American McGee is the mastermind behind Grimm, Alice: Madness Returns and Akaneiro: Demon Hunters. By all accounts and purposes, this should be #1 on this list…except, that this game has nothing do do with America. Moving on.

Senator Armstrong is the most badass politician on the list thus far. The guy has nano-machines running through every vein in his body, making him an [almost] indestructible, walking tank of destruction. He wants to put an end to war, by starting ANOTHER WAR. And as crooked as he is, if he were real, he may have a shot at landing a spot in the current US government. And, he played football in college.

Vigilante 8, where truckers uphold and protect the US from corruption

The year is 1975: The United States is on the verge of an economic collapse, due to a worldwide oil crisis. The national crime level rises into absurd territory. While the US is crippling under its internal problems, OMAR- the Oil Monopoly Alliance Regime wanders in unnoticed, determined to seize control of the global oil industry, and aid in the destruction of the United States of America. Talented drivers from across the southern US band together to form the “Vigilantes”; their mission is to preserve national law within the US, and to kill OMAR’s legions of hit-men.

This is Vigilante 8.

“America’s Past-time” is baseball…”America’s Team” on the other hand, is the Dallas Cowboys. Regardless of who has what nickname, football is THE sport of the United States. Not only do we spend more on football than we do education, but more people tune in for the Super Bowl than they do for a presidential address. As an added bonus, the rest of the world calls this sport “American Football”.

Also, cheerleaders.
