There are plethora of new offerings that Google has provided to the world. One of the best products is Google Maps that has won many accolades.

Let’s start by looking at the amazing features that Google Maps has to offer and make a verdict on how useful or good the app really is.

Search Box Enabled

Google Maps has gone through a major refresh that they now have an on-screen search box that has become a huge hit. The search box has proven to be smarter than anyone of us. If you don’t believe me, try typing into the search box something like, “daycares in Colorado”, and you’ll be shown a list of suggestive text to type in that helps you search and what to find. Users can also search for specific longitude or latitude to find some locations, and you will be amazed at the results you see. This is so techy that it reminds us of the search box on Google that we are sure everyone is going to love it.

Google Knows Your Choices

When you are travelling down a long stretch of a country road to take in the breathtaking scenic, you probably want to check other places in your neighborhood that you might find exciting. Google will help you, just by hitting the asterisk (*) into the Google search box, and Google map will show you the map with a lot of yellow and red dots marking, the parts that you travelled through. Those red marks will show you an exit or entry pathway, the yellow dots that denote neighborhood places that might amaze you.

Google brings you to, “places you’ll like” by using your previous browsing history.

DIY Your Routes

Sometimes you will travel through a known route and want to avoid certain routes or junctions, you have the option to manually change the Google provided routes on the map. You will just need to hover until you see a white dot on your blue routes. Then drag the dot to some other points via which you want to ride though.

Shout it Out!

You can use Google to map out the route you have in mind, and one that your friends were looking for as well, you have the option of sharing the route map through your smartphone. Tap on the location bar on Google Maps, and you see the option to Share at the bottom of the screen. Click on the Share button and you can spread the knowledge.

Do Your Bit of Goodness

Visualize you’ve been driving all day through a route and want to see how it looks on Google Maps. When you do you seem to find incorrectly marked landmarks, junction, or they missed out on your main hot spot. You have the option of correcting Google. You will need to login to the Map Marker that Google Map provides to edit the map. When you have added the right corrections, Google Moderation will immediately view it and verify it. If your information is correct, the map will be revamped with your inputs. As a result, you can pat yourself on the back and be proud that you done the world some good. The best part is you corrected Google. What more could you ask for to update a Feeling Proud status on your Facebook wall!
