War Thunder October Decals Add Skulls, Ghosts, and WW1 Aircraft Art

Contents

War Thunder’s October monthly decals lean into Halloween with skulls, ghosts, a black cat, and five World War I-era aircraft markings, all earnable from October 12 through November 12, 2026. Gaijin Entertainment reworked the usual monthly format for the season and brought back the “Tiefseefisch” emblem, which previously cost Golden Eagles and can now be unlocked by completing a regular task instead.

Updated: October 13, 2026.

What the new markings represent

The five new decals are drawn from real units. Kazimir Rudzit served in the 15th Reconnaissance Aviation Detachment of the Red Military Air Fleet, flying 23 combat and reconnaissance missions on the Southern Front in the spring and summer of 1919. His marking shows Death riding a scythe and holding a red ribbon beside a pair of dragonflies.

France’s SPA 91 Emblem comes from Escadrille SPA 91, formed in the spring of 1917 and dissolved on July 9, 1919 with six confirmed victories. The “Rice’s Red Devils” hull art belongs to Company C of the 89th Medium Tank Battalion, which painted a monster face on a deep red base on its Sherman tanks in Korea. The Black Cat Squadron emblem represents ROCAF’s 35th Squadron, which flew U-2 spy planes from 1961 to 1974. Greece’s 337th Squadron “Ghost” tail art dates to a unit that became the first Hellenic squadron to fly jets.

Availability, boundaries, and the returning emblems

All ten decals are available from October 12 at 11:00 GMT until November 12 at 09:00 GMT, and every task can be completed with rank III or higher vehicles. The Tiefseefisch emblem was originally tied to the first event, so this is the first time players can earn it through a normal task. Gaijin kept the Red Devils hull art generalized so it fits many tank hulls besides the Sherman, and notes the World War I aircraft markings cannot be placed historically.

The details above come from Gaijin’s official “Spooky Monthly Decals for October” announcement. The decals arrive alongside other recent War Thunder activity, including the US Navy Birthday ship discounts and free decal, the Lightfooted screenshot competition and a test for the updated Southeastern City map in Nuclear Escalation.
