Contents

War Thunder update 2.59.0.62 changes how cockpit audio works, gives Indonesian ground crews their own voice lines, and adds bombing bases to seven Air Superiority maps. Gaijin Entertainment published the patch notes on October 12, 2026, and the update also swaps the Harimau’s engine sound, fixes a ship gun effect, and addresses a client freeze tied to Alt+Tab.

Cockpit audio and Indonesian voice work

Opening an aircraft or helicopter cockpit in flight now makes the rushing airflow drown out everything else, including engine and missile sounds. Previously that effect was controlled by the player’s engine volume slider, so lowering that slider could keep the rest of the mix audible. After this update the airflow sound is independent of that slider and applies to aircraft and helicopter cockpits alike. Because the wind covers engine and missile audio, a pilot who opens the canopy gives up those audible cues.

Indonesian ground vehicle crews receive their own voice-over for the first time. The Harimau’s engine sound has also been replaced with one Gaijin says fits better. The patch groups these audio changes with the cockpit airflow update under its Sound section.

New bombing bases and the technical fixes

Air Superiority missions on seven maps gain bombing bases: Britain, Kursk, Malta, Mozdok, Stalingrad (Winter), Vietnam, and Smolensk. None of those maps had bombing bases in the mode before the update, and the notes list these seven maps without describing changes to other mission types.

Two fixes round out the patch. The foam and spray effect beneath firing ship guns no longer displays incorrectly, and a possible cause of the game client freezing after switching windows with Alt+Tab has been fixed. The changelog marks that freeze as a direct player report.

Boundaries to keep in mind

Gaijin adds that the notes reflect only key changes and may not include a complete list of all improvements. War Thunder is updated constantly, and some changes do not require a client update. The changes reflected in the notes are formed by taking reactions and requests from the community on the bug reporting service, forums, and other official platforms into account, and fixes are implemented in order of importance, so a game-breaking bug is worked on and shipped sooner. The full details are in the official Update 2.59.0.62 changelog.

Gaijin has also opened the Lightfooted screenshot competition this week, marked the US Navy’s birthday with ship discounts and a decal, and recently wrapped up a test of the updated Southeastern City map for Nuclear Escalation.
