In an interview with Playstation EU Blog, Watch Dogs creative director Jonathan Morin stated that “Creating the game on PS4 was fascinating.” Morin continued to describe how Watch Dogs and Sony were systematically on the same page. “Sony knew what they wanted to get out of their new console and Watch Dogs became a game that would fulfill those desires, in essence a perfect match.”
From the integration of multiplayer elements into a single player experience, to the creativity and possibilities for the Dualshock’s touch pad, the capabilities of the PS4’s hardware allow developers to tap the full potential of what Watch Dogs is craving to be. The most important aspect has to be the pure power that the PS4 delivers. Until the next-gen system was released to developers, the memory space of last-gen became an issue that put restraints on the game. Now Watch Dogs has much more power under the hood giving the development team a feeling of unlimited potential and possibly propelling them towards releasing a Game of the Year candidate.

These comments made about the PS4 could become the next words used in Sony’s favor when it comes to the debate of which next-gen console is superior. It is anticipated that Watch Dogs will appear in 1080p on PS4 and only 720p on Xbox One. With more and more praise being thrown in Sony’s favor the rustling of fan boys can easily be heard from both sides. Many analysts anticipate that Microsoft will unlock the full potential of the Xbox One soon and we will see 1080p as a standard across both platforms. Until then the battle rages on and Sony will enjoy this victory along the way.
Watch Dogs will be released on May 27th, with a hopeful beta to come before release in the coming weeks. You can see the full interview article here.
