Watch Dogs For Wii U Confirmed For Fall 2014

Watch Dogs coming to Wii U this Fall

Apart from Super Smash Bros., Watch Dogs is one of this year’s most anticipated titles for the Wii U. Sadly, Ubisoft has been very tight-lipped when it comes to giving an official release date or month, but a new listing on Ubisoft’s online store hints that the Wii U version of Watch Dogs may be coming this Fall.

As I’m sure we all know, Watch Dogs originally planned for a Fall 2013 release, roughly around November. Just a few weeks before its original launch date, Ubisoft delayed the multiplatform release date into 2014, adding the title into the list of projects for their 2014 fiscal year. Earlier this year, the title was teased for having a Summer 2014 release. The date was then condensed to June, and finally May 27…for all versions except the Wii U release. At the time, Ubisoft had simply confirmed that the Wii U version was indeed still in-development, and had not been canceled at any time.

According to an update on the Uplay online store, Watch Dogs is now listed for a Fall 2014 release. According to Nintendo-focused site Nintendo Enthusiast, a Ubisoft representative confirmed with them that the developer is indeed targeting a Fall 2014 release:

While it may not be a definitive concrete release date, any release news regarding the Wii U version of Watch Dogs is good news. Regarding the other versions of Ubisoft’s new IP, the PS4 version has been confirmed to have a 1080p presentation. Ubisoft is pushing the Xbox One as far as it can currently go with that version, but it has not been officially confirmed if the Xbox One version will also be in 1080p. Microsoft has claimed numerous times in the past that their new console is more than capable of supporting full HD content, but very few games have backed that statement; Titanfall for instance, only runs at 792p.

Earlier today, Watch Dogs Creative Director Jonathan Morin stated that the Ultra Settings for the PC version would need something along the lines of an “Intel Core i7-4770K with a GeForce 780”. The most recent trailer for the PC version was created from footage of the game running on the GTX Titan.
