So has a Canadian Nintendo employee spilled the beans in a video regarding information as to whether or not Rayman will be a playable character in the new Super Smash Bros?
Matt Ryan is the employee in question and his voice can be heard in the video saying that Rayman will be in the game. I don’t know if this was a gaffe on his part, but Nintendo HAS released a Rayman trophy to be earned in the new Smash title, but even with the release of the Rayman trophy to be earned in the game, Rayman was not confirmed as a playable character at the time of the trophy’s reveal. The video in question is a Youtube video titled “Super Smash Bros. Wii U Gameplay Session from Nintendo Canada Headquarters” during which Ryan can be heard saying that “Rayman and a whole bunch of others” will be playable in the upcoming title.
People in the comments have been arguing that Ryan meant to say Megaman, and that the Rayman blurt was just a mistake on his part. While watching the video he clearly says Rayman according to my ears, but maybe yours are better. The video is down below and you can listen for yourself. To save yourself some time, start the video at 1:50 to fast forward to the part where Ryan seemingly says “Rayman” when talking about potential characters to be revealed.
The rest of the video shows off more Smash Bros. gameplay, so if you’ve got the time, take a look at the rest of the video. Regardless of Rayman’s inclusion, this game is shaping up to be the best Smash yet. For more news on this and everything else gaming, keep posted at the GamerHeadlines!
Update, Nintendo have since contacted us with the follow statement clarifying the rumor of Rayman being announced as a playable character in Super Smash Bros:
“In the recent interview in Canada about Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, Rayman was mentioned, and this was referring to the previously announced Rayman trophy in the game.”
